The ongoing humanitarian crisis in Gaza has left thousands of people living with permanent disabilities while dramatically reducing access to traditional employment. According to the World Health Organization (WHO), tens of thousands of people in Gaza require long-term rehabilitation services, making economic empowerment and inclusive employment essential for restoring independence and dignity.
To address this urgent need, Jusoor Al-Amal (Bridges of Hope) Association launched the Digital Empowerment & Remote Employment Program, designed to help 300 people with disabilities build sustainable careers through remote work and the digital economy.
The program provides each beneficiary with a laptop, six months of internet connectivity, and professional training in high-demand digital skills, including data entry, social media management, digital marketing, graphic design, video editing, translation, and freelance work. Participants are also connected with international freelance platforms and remote employment opportunities to help them generate long-term income.
The project prioritizes people with physical disabilities, amputees, and individuals whose employment opportunities have been disrupted by the conflict but who have the ability and motivation to work remotely.
By investing in digital skills rather than short-term assistance, the program enables beneficiaries to achieve financial independence, support their families, and actively participate in Gaza's economic recovery. The first phase is expected to create sustainable income opportunities for 300 families while establishing a scalable model that can expand to reach thousands more.
